What is the role of the Treasurer and the financial responsibilities of the board of directors? There are six pillars of nonprofit organization finance, which include (1) fiduciary duties, (2) financial policies, (3) budget review and approval, (4) financial reports, (5) audit and internal control, and (6) fraud and risk. The Treasurer should be knowledgeable in all six areas and understand the role of the position.
